Slime-tastic Art Kidcreate Summer Camp:
It’s a slime takeover! We’ll explore different slime recipes as we create tons of gooey, sparkly, stretchy, messy goo. We’ll even throw in a little painting and sculpting on the side. BISD New Employee Luncheon:
The Chamber of Commerce is excited to welcome the new teachers and administrative staff to our community! Welcome to Kindergarten Storytime:
Join the library for a fun story time celebrating all the kids starting kindergarten! We’ll practice some of the things they’ll need to know in school, read some books, do some activities and celebrate this new beginning! This event is geared for children starting kindergarten; however, younger siblings are welcome to attend. 10:00-11:00 a.m., Burleson Public Library, 248 SW Johnson Ave.

Sonic’s Turning Five:
You’re invited to celebrate K9 Sonic’s fifth birthday with the Burleson Police Department and the Burleson Animal Shelter! There will be a Sonic meet-and-greet, games and activities for kids and dogs, free hot dogs and a raffle prize for anyone who adopts a dog during the event! There will also be free goody bags for the first 50 kids. For his birthday, K9 Sonic requests donations to help the amazing animals at the shelter. Your contribution will go a long way in giving his furry friends a second chance! 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m., Burleson Animal Shelter, 775 S.E. John Jones Road. August Summer Watercolor & More!:
Join us as we play with paints, pastels, pens, pencils and more to create vibrant, whimsical summer-inspired art. Karen Kaiser will lead the workshop in creating a color wheel cactus. Perfect for beginners, hobbyists and artists of any skill level looking for a fun, creative afternoon with friends. Ages 12 and up. $25 per person. Noon-2:30 p.m., Russell Farm Art Center, 405 W. BTX Back to School Bash:
Let’s celebrate the last week of summer together! Bring the kiddos out to enjoy water slides, frozen treats and a DJ! This event is free for all to enjoy! Event starts at 4:00 p.m., Mayor Vera Calvin Plaza, 141 W. Renfro St.

Friendly Fest Carnival Dance:
Burleson Parks and Recreation hosts its third annual dance for individuals with special needs and disabilities. This year’s theme is Friendly Fest Carnival Dance! Participants can dress to the theme if they wish. Join us for a night of fun carnival games, dancing, food and friendly faces. Splish Splash Doggie Bash:
A fun-filled day gone to the dogs! Let your furry, four-legged friend take a swim in the BRiCk Outdoor Pool, visit with dog-friendly vendors, win some prizes and have fun. $5 per dog; limit 2 dogs.
