The Barkin’ Bow Wow Luau

The first ever Barkin’ Bow Wow Luau took place at the end of September, and hundreds of canines and their human companions from throughout the area enjoyed a day of fun in the sun and water.

Benefiting the Ellis County SPCA and the Humane Society of North Texas, the event offered food, fun and prizes for everyone and a rare chance for dogs to play in the waters of Hawaiian Falls water park in Mansfield.

Additionally, attendees had a chance to compete for prizes in a rubber ducky race.

The event raised over $6,000 for the Ellis County SPCA.

It was a beautiful, sunny Sunday afternoon and people came from all over North Texas so their furry 4-legged friends could play in the water. Hawaiian Falls opened its wave pool and lazy river attractions to the dogs and supporters. Approximately 350 dogs of every shape, size and breed descended upon the water. There were plenty of tennis balls, frisbees, and toys to keep them occupied for hours
