Every person has a story. At Springtown Park Rehab & Care Center, those stories aren’t forgotten—they’re celebrated. Through the Elder Wish Program, residents share 1–3 wishes they’ve always hoped to experience. Then, one by one, those wishes come to life—creating memories that last far beyond the moment.
KINDNESS IN ACTION
Administrator Jim McDonald envisioned the Elder Wish Program—and his servant-hearted leadership inspires every Saturday outing, every shared meal and every life story listened to along the way. But Jim would be the first to say these wishes are a team effort. From Activity Director JJ to receptionists, drivers, caregivers, nurses, therapists, dietary staff, housekeeping and countless others, every employee plays a role in making residents feel known, valued and deeply loved.
DREAMS THAT COME TRUE
Residents have fulfilled lifelong dreams—from a first tattoo designed by a daughter, to returning to the excitement of horse racing, feeding giraffes at Fossil Rim and walking through a garden filled with butterflies. One of the most emotional wishes reunited a mother with the son she hadn’t seen in more than a decade. Another resident simply wished for a Hobby Lobby shopping trip so she could continue creating handmade cards and gifts for others.
MORE THAN AN OUTING
These moments ripple through the entire community. Fellow residents celebrate each adventure. Families see joy return to their loved ones. Staff are reminded why they chose a career in caring. Every wish is a reminder of identity—of a former jockey who is still a horseman, a mother who is still Mom an artist who is still creative. Every resident’s story is still being written.
Compassion isn’t measured in grand gestures. Sometimes it’s lunch after the zoo. Sometimes it’s pushing a wheelchair through a butterfly garden. Sometimes it’s simply sitting beside someone as they relive the happiest chapters of their life. These moments may last only a day, but the joy they create lasts far longer. That’s why Springtown Park was named Facility of the Year—and why programs like Elder Wish reveal the heart behind that honor.
