Students Raise Money for Earthquake Victims

ENNIS—In late January, student council members at Miller Intermediate in Ennis held a fundraiser to help the victims of Haiti.

“Our students wanted to do something to help Haiti because they are in such dire need of help and they decided that we could raise funds to donate to the American Red Cross for Haiti,” said Caren Lawrence, student council advisor. “We could not have pulled it off with out donations from Chicken Express, H.E.B., Super One and Wal-Mart. Because of caring people our school was able to raise $2,177.”

Students who made donations to the cause were allowed to wear jeans and a red shirt. Additionally, student council members sold popcorn and drinks to raise funds.

Organizers of the event express their gratitude to all who made donations.
